The Home and School Association of Science Leadership Academy proudly comprises our dedicated parents, guardians, and educators. We’re here to enhance collaboration and understanding between everyone invested in our children’s education—together, we make SLA thrive!
Our goal is to continuously improve SLA, creating the best learning environment for our students by:
Supporting School Initiatives: Help us maintain Jeremy Spry’s crucial role as program coordinator, fund Independent Learning Projects, support afterschool sports and clubs, enhance classroom projects, subsidize field trips, and celebrate our seniors with gifts.
Building Community Spirit: Join us in boosting camaraderie through events like Back to School Night, New Family Night, EduCon, and our exciting Spring Social.
Supporting Educators: We show our gratitude for the school’s backbone—our teachers—through Teacher Appreciation Events and supplemental funding. Help celebrate their hard work and achievements.
Guiding School Policies: We collaborate with the administration on school concerns, including budget allocation and other significant decisions.
If you’re a parent or guardian, we encourage you to lend a hand, have your voice heard, and enrich our school’s culture. Your involvement is the key to SLA's success!

Since 2009, SLA has hosted EduCon, an innovation conference, to provide teachers and administrators a space for discussing the future of learning and teaching and all that makes a school a school. Over the course of three days, attendees attend educational sessions, hear from students and speakers, and participate in conversations.
HSA helps greet and check in guests; and supports students and staff with meal preparation, set up, clean up, and any other task to make the conference a success.
More information on the EduCon website.
At SLA, we are incredibly fortunate to count on the support of our families to help close the gap between what we need and what we can afford. We could not be the school we are without your support.
Money raised during each year's Fuel the Rocket fundraising drive goes directly to making sure that SLA's program of an innovative, authentic, inquiry-driven, technology rich education is able to continue. Contributions fund many initiatives, including Jeremy Spry’s crucial role as program coordinator, our Independent Learning Projects, part or all of other teaching positions, our laptop program, opportunities like the Digital Video and Engineering CTEs—and much, much more.
If you’d like to support this year’s campaign, please visit our Fuel the Rocket donation page.
The annual Spring Social sponsored is a festive evening for parents, teachers, and other adult friends of SLA to come together at a venue outside of school to enjoy a night out, get to know each other outside of school, and participate in the silent and live auctions that support our work. Enjoy food, drinks and good company in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
The 2025 Spring Social, Sparkle & Shine, was held at the Asian Arts Initiative on May 2nd.
To donate auction items or get involved in this year's event, check out our Spring Social page.
Operated by parent volunteers and open to students during school lunch periods, the store is the place to load up on sweet and salty snacks, healthy treats and drinks. It's also the place to find SLA swag such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, car magnets, and pajama pants.
