New Family Night, Back-to-School Night, Conferences
Each fall, SLA rolls out the welcome mat for students and their families. It’s our golden moment to showcase our deeply-held values and offer a glimpse into our unique learning haven. Volunteers greet families, sell SLA gear, and help people navigate the building. These events are a great way to meet other community members while also helping the school.

Open House
SLA hosts one Open House each fall for prospective students and families. This is an opportunity for us to speak about our special learning community. Volunteers greet visitors, answer questions, and share individual experiences about SLA.
Since 2009, SLA has hosted EduCon, a three-day annual innovation conference for teachers and administrators to discuss the future of learning and teaching, and all that makes a school a school.
HSA helps greet and check in guests; and supports students and staff with meal preparation, set up, clean up, and any other task to make the conference a success.
More information on the EduCon website.
At SLA, we are incredibly fortunate to count on the support of our families. We could not be the school we are without you.
Money raised during each year's Fuel the Rocket drive goes directly to SLA's program of an innovative, authentic, inquiry-driven, technology rich education.
Contributions fund many initiatives, including our crucial program coordinator, Independent Learning Projects, part or all of other teaching positions, the laptop program, the Digital Video and Engineering CTEs—and much, much more.
If you’d like to support this year’s campaign, please visit our Fuel the Rocket donation page.
The annual Spring Social is a festive evening for parents, teachers, and other adult friends of SLA enjoy a night of food, drinks and good company in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, and participate in the silent and live auctions that support our work.
The 2025 Spring Social, Sparkle & Shine, was held at the Asian Arts Initiative on May 2nd.
